This text is also available in: Georgian
Issued on: June 20, 2012
Open Door Day: June 29, 2012
Application deadline: July 10, 2012
IREX is conducting a grant competition for its Georgian Media Enhance Democracy, Informed citizenry and Accountability (G-MEDIA) Program, which is made possible by the support of the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). IREX has a limited pool of funds for small grants to media outlets for initiatives aimed at improving their business strategies and practice and/or implementation of the entrepreneurial ideas for revenue generation. Media organizations, which received a grant from IREX G-MEDIA for similar purposes in 2011, are not eligible to apply.
G-MEDIA invites media outlets to compete for grants covering 12-month period. The applicants should propose specific actions aimed at increasing revenues from traditional and non-traditional sources. The applicants should make good use of social media tools and instruments and other technological novelties for advancing their business agenda. Innovative approaches to solving business dilemmas faced by a particular business as well as out of box solutions to chronic problems plaguing publishing and broadcast businesses are encouraged.
IREX will provide tailored in-house consulting to the winners as needed.
Applicants should contribute up to 10% of resources needed for the implementation of the proposed project as a cost-share.
This program is not envisioned to support creation of entirely new outlets, but such initiatives might be considered as an exception.
Media outlets from both Tbilisi and regions, regardless of platforms, are eligible to apply.
Successful applicants proposing activities in line with the above will be awarded with a grant not exceeding USD 50,000.00. In this category up to four grants will be awarded.
This Call for Applications will be followed by an Open Door Day through which interested applicants will be provided with more detailed guidance on the application process.
Open Door Day will take place in IREX office on June 29, 2012, at 4:00 pm.
Applications should be received no later than July 10, 2012, 6:00 pm to be considered for a grant award. Questions regarding this grant application should be submitted to Maia Maziashvili no later than July 9, 6:00 pm 2012. See additional contact information below.
